We spoke with Marta Pálešová – a LinkedIn marketing expert who helps individuals and companies shape their digital identity in a way that brings real results – about how to use this platform effectively, strategically, and with impact.

According to her, the key to success lies in having a clear goal, consistent presentation, and above all, activity. “Having a profile is not enough. If you want to achieve your goals, you need to be visible. Only then will people notice you, remember you, and start trusting you,” says Marta. First impressions matter: your profile must speak for you

Although LinkedIn offers a variety of tools to enhance a profile, many users don’t realize how much influence the very first impression has. Marta highlights three key elements everyone should adjust: a quality background photo, a professional headshot with a subtle smile, and a clear, concise headline. These are the elements that determine whether a visitor stays on your profile or clicks away immediately.

“Your photo and headline say a lot before someone even starts reading your profile. Many people think it doesn’t matter, but this is where trust begins,” explains Marta. A professional profile should not only be visually appealing but also clearly communicate what you do, who you serve, and what makes you unique.

Your network is not just about numbers

One of the most common mistakes Marta sees among users is focusing solely on the quantity of connections. “Growing your follower count is technically easy. You just send out connection requests and wait for people to accept. But having a high number of contacts doesn’t guarantee success. You need to nurture your network – reply to comments, join discussions, be approachable. That’s how people build a relationship with you and come back to you,” says Marta.
